Ultra™ Laser Pre & Post-Care Instructions

General Skin Resurfacing & Pigmented Lesions

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure the best outcome and minimize the risk of complications, please follow these guidelines prior to your treatment:

1 Week Before Treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanners and tanning beds). Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.
  • Discontinue retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide.
  • Stop using exfoliating or resurfacing products (scrubs, peels, masks) in the treatment area.

3–5 Days Before Treatment:

  • Avoid chemical peels, waxing, or other laser procedures in the treatment area.
  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores; you may require antiviral medication before treatment.

Day of Treatment:

  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen, or skincare products.
  • Avoid caffeine or alcohol.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT

  • You may experience a warm, prickling, or sunburn-like sensation during the procedure.
  • Treatment typically takes 15–30 minutes, depending on the area.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Following your treatment, proper care is essential for healing and optimal results:

🌞 Immediately After:

  • Expect redness, warmth, and a “sunburn” feel for up to 24–48 hours.
  • Skin may feel dry or slightly rough, similar to a sandpaper texture, for several days.
  • Pinpoint scabbing or bronzing is normal and will slough off naturally.

First 24–48 Hours:

  • Apply a gentle moisturizer frequently (e.g., Aquaphor, CeraVe, or EltaMD).
  • Avoid hot water, steam, saunas, or vigorous exercise that causes sweating.
  • Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours (or as advised by your provider).
  • Sleep with a clean pillowcase, and avoid touching or rubbing the treated area.

🚫 Avoid the Following for 5–7 Days:

  • Direct sun exposure — always use SPF 30+ if going outdoors.
  • Harsh exfoliants, active ingredients (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs), or alcohol-based products.
  • Picking, peeling, or scrubbing the treated skin.

Ongoing Skincare:

  • Resume regular skincare routine only when skin feels fully healed (typically 3–7 days).
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, even indoors, to protect the new skin and maintain results.
