Following medications are considered safe during pregnancy:
Headaches/aches & pains:
Acetaminophen = Tylenol, extra strength is also safe in pregnancy. Do not exceed 4000mg in a 24 hr period.
Ibuprofen, Advil, Aspirin, etc are NOT safe in pregnancy.
Constipation:
Docusate = Colace 100 mg tablets can start with one a day and go up to three times a day. Metamucil, Mira lax, V8 juice are also safe and helpful to decrease constipation. Increase water intake.
Sore throat:
Most OTC cough drops/lozenges are safe in pregnancy. Doing salt water gargles are also helpful.
Heartburn:
Tums, Mylanta, Maalox, Pepcid (Famotidine)
Yeast Infections:
Gyne-Lotrimin, Monistat
Seasonal Allergies:
Claritin, Zyrtec, Benadryl, nasal saline sprays, Flonase
Insomnia:
Benadryl, Ambien
Nausea:
25 mg Vitamin B6 plus ½ of a Unisom tablet; Sea Sick bands.ginger products i.e. ginger pops, ginger ale, and ginger tea.
