How does Laser Hair Removal Work?

The Vectus laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin and into the hair follicle. The follicle absorbs the energy and is destroyed; unable to produce hair again. Since our hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are necessary to achieve the desired results. We are trying to catch the hair in the Anagen Phase or the active phase of hair growth.

The Vectus Hair Removal Treatment

You will come to each visit clean-shaven because we want all the laser energy to be delivered to the root. During the treatment, the provider will guide the laser hand piece across the area being treated. The hand piece is delivering contact cooling to the surface of your skin while emitting a beam of laser energy which is absorbed by the hair follicles and converted to heat. The heat disables the hair follicle from future growth while the contact cooling maximizes your comfort during the treatment. When clients describe the procedure, their sensations range from tingling to the snap of a rubber band.

How many treatments will I need?

Because our hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are recommended to achieve your desired results. Depending on the body area, we space the treatments 4 – 6 weeks apart. This timing is critical to effective treatment. Remember, we are trying to catch the hair in its anagen phase and not all hairs are on the same cycle. Other factors that influence the number of treatments include hair color, texture, body area, and skin type. Typically, you can expect 6 – 12 sessions. During your life, you may see additional hair growth in the area treated based on changes in hormones and/or prescriptive medications. These hormonal changes can stimulate new hair growth in dormant follicles. So, we do advise our clients that future maintenance treatments might be needed.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

Botox injections have to be administered by a qualified medical professional. The procedure begins with an initial consultation where the outcomes and expectations are discussed. You would be asked to quit smoking and alcohol two to three weeks before the treatment to get maximum results from the treatment. Dr. Nassif may ask you to stop certain medications including aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications to reduce chances of excessive bleeding and bruising at least two weeks before the treatment.

The injections and the amount of Botox needed are determined by the medical professional. After administration into the problem areas, the movement of the muscles in that area are frozen by the toxin. The injections themselves take a few minutes to administer and there is no requirement of a general or local anesthetic. You could undergo the treatment during your lunch break as usually the appointment lasts for less than 15 minutes. There is no downtime and you can return to work immediately.

The results are visible within 72 hours although it could take seven days to obtain maximum effect. Dr. Bhanot may ask you to follow up to review the response to Botox injections. It is common to see a partial response to the first set of Botox injections while complete muscle relaxation is obtained after the second or third set of injections.

AM I A CANDIDATE?

Generally, you are an ideal candidate if you are an adult and in overall good health with moderate to severe wrinkles around the eyes, neck or forehead.

Botox injections are not recommended for pregnant or lactating women, or for patients who have certain neuromuscular disorders like Lambert-Eaton syndrome, myasthenia gravis, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s). People who are allergic to human albumin should also not undergo Botox treatment.

How does Potenza Work and What Does it Feel Like?

A topical numbing cream will be applied prior to the Potenza Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling treatment. Once the skin is sufficiently numb, the microneedling process begins using the Potenza device with ultra-fine needles that penetrate the skin. Some may feel a mild sting, a warm sensation, and light pressure from the needles as the device moves over the treatment area. Most Potenza RF Microneedling treatments take less than 45 minutes.

Pinpoint bleeding is completely normal and does not last long. It is best to avoid alcohol the night before the treatment and the day of to minimize any inflammation of the skin. Drink plenty of water, avoid hot water on the treated area(s), and wear fabric that is loose and breathable on your body. After washing/cleansing the face and body — do not tug at the skin; instead, gently pat the skin dry (a good rule of thumb for general everyday care).

How Many Potenza RF Microneedling Treatments Are Needed?

For optimal results, you will likely need an initial series of three or four sessions one month apart.

How Do I Prepare for Potenza Treatment?

• Prior to a Potenza treatment, please be sure the area being treated is clean and possibly, depending on your case, clean-shaven.
• Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to a Potenza treatment.
• Avoid hot water baths or showers.
• Post-treatment, please wear sunblock from SPF 30+, as well as any post-treatment skincare recommended by a team member.
• Use ice packs every two hours, IF necessary for 15-20 minutes at a time for the first 24 hours post-treatment if there is any swelling and discomfort.
• Do not scratch or scrub the treated area.
• Resume normal activities and makeup-use after 24 hours.
• Please be gentle with the treated area to see great results.

How Soon Can I Expect Results?

Potenza results are gorgeous. Depending on the client, results are noticeable between 1-3 treatments, with a safe grace period between treatments. It takes a few weeks for the body to begin replenishing and producing new collagen and elastin after a Potenza and CynoSure Laser treatment.

While Potenza radiofrequency microneedling can be used as a single treatment for brightening and tightening skin for any major event, we recommend a multiple treatment protocols of at least 2-3 treatments for best results.
