Pre- & Post-Care Instructions
Biote® Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy
(for Testosterone and/or Estradiol)
🔹 PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Please follow these guidelines prior to your Biote® pellet insertion:
✅ 1 Week Before Insertion:
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (unless prescribed), including ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen, and supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, and turmeric—they may increase the risk of bruising.
- Ensure you’ve completed any lab work ordered by Dr. Bhanot; your hormone levels must be evaluated before insertion.
- Shower and shave the treatment area (upper buttock/hip) the morning of your procedure.
✅ Day of Appointment:
- Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
- Eat a light meal beforehand to prevent lightheadedness.
- Inform your provider if you:
- Are taking blood thinners
- Have diabetes, autoimmune conditions, or current infections
- Have allergies to lidocaine, adhesives, or topical antibiotics
🔹 POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Proper post-care is essential to support healing and minimize the risk of infection, irritation, or pellet extrusion.
Immediately After Pellet Insertion:
✅ Wound Care:
- A small sterile dressing and pressure bandage will be applied.
- Leave the outer dressing in place in for 5 days for women and 7 days for men.
- Leave the steri-strips (tape on the incision) in place for 5 for women and 7 days for men or until they naturally fall off.
✅ Keep the Area Clean & Dry:
- No bathing, swimming, or soaking in water for 5-7 days.
- Showers are allowed after 24 hours, but avoid letting the water hit the site directly.
- Do not apply ointments or creams unless instructed.
Activity Restrictions:
- Avoid strenuous exercise, running, squatting, or bending at the hips for 5 days for women and 7 days for men.
✅ After 7 Days:
- Resume normal activity as long as the insertion site is closed, dry, and uninflamed.
Watch For:
- Mild swelling or bruising is normal.
- Call Bhanot Medspa if you experience:
- Excessive redness, heat, or pus
- Fever or chills
- Pellet protrusion or pain that worsens over time
✅ Your follow-up labs will be scheduled 4–6 weeks after insertion to monitor hormone levels and guide future dosing after first pellet insertion and then annually.
